Nick Davis wins US open again!

After a difficult Masters tournament in which he finished 12 strokes back, Nick Davis rebounded with his 3rd consecutive US Open championship.

Davis shot an 82 and held off playing partners Ryan Lefere and Steve Bush by three strokes. Many felt like this would be the tournament that showcased our first new winner on tour since Nick Gilpin's inaugural win 2 years ago at the British Open. But Davis would have none of that as he carded three birdies in a 7 hole stretch which included a 55 foot bomb from the front of the green at number 9.

"That was very disheartening. I thought I was going to go into the turn down 3 or possibly 2 if I make my putt and I end up being 4 behind", said Steve Bush.

Surprisingly, after 9 holes, a sober Aaron Ludwig peaked at the leaderboard in 2nd place with a 42 followed by a very surprising 43 by Andrew Isaac to put him in a tie for 3rd place. Both faltered down the stretch though as they shot 48 and 50 respectively on the back nine . Perhaps Ludwig was getting the shakes and needed a drink to calm his nerves. Perhaps Isaac was getting the shakes because he wanted a Klondike bar. We will never know. However, a sober Ludwig looks like a contender for years to come on tour. Isaac, not so much.

A look at the final leaderboard showed Johnny "Nighttrain" Nguyen in 4th place with an astounding back nine of 40. Nighttrain is still however looking for his breakthrough win. Marc "Nighttrain" Wilson finished in 4th place with an 89 and there was a two-way tie for fifth place with Sober Ludwig and Tim "Nighttrain" Goergen each carding a 90. Chris "Nighttrain" Blust rounded out the Ryder Cup points with a 91, including a very impressive 42 on the back nine to finish in 8th place. Of note though is Willy struggling with an 89 on Sunday after carding a 79 at the masters. Many attribute this performance to Marc's recent escapades to Jamaica and Michigan Adventure. Speaking of petting and wild animals, on the back nine with a hole that bordered the fence, a woman was overheard getting absolutely nailed. There was no disguising this noise as "Oh my god, f*&^ me harder" was repeated over and over. "Nothing better than Sunday afternoon f$#%ing", said Ryan Lefere.

*Notables: Corey Lefere lost the MSU/UM challenge with Andrew Isaac and must now wear a MSU shirt to the next tournament at Cascades. The JTA was very pleased to have its first guest non-competitor in Dave Duggan. Jude Lefere carded the only double digit score of the day with a 10 on number 9.
