After being winless on the JTA since the inaugural 2001 season, Ryan Lefere finally broke through with a win at this year's British Open hosted at Cascades Golf and Country Club.
"This is a huge monkey off my back. Ive been waiting for this moment for 6 years."
Waiting, well, that's one way you can say it.
Lefere left the JTA for two years to try and rediscover his swing on the much less acclaimed Cameroonian Tour. After not garnering any success there, he returned to the States to try his luck once again.
And two years later, he now stands tall.
Lefere shot an 83 at his home course in Jackson, good enough for a 5 stroke victory over Steve Bush and Johnny Nguyen. Defending champion Nick Davis also threatened through most of the tournament but choked down the stretch going +12 the last 4 holes.
Ryan was extremely consistent all day, never scoring worse than a double bogey but also never recording a birdie.
Fellow playing partner Steve Bush has now finished in 2nd place in every tournament this year. Will Bush end his 4 year drought on tour at the PGA championship?
Only time will tell
Notables: Andy McCann shot the low 9 of the day with a 39 on the back. Corey Lefere lost the UM/MSU bet again with Andrew Isaac and will be forced to wear a MSU shirt again at the next tournament. Marc Wilson played with only his 7 iron and putter from hole 11 on and managed a 42 on the back. Sober Ludwig shot an 89 and looks more focused than ever. The tour saw the return of seldom seen Casey Bissot who shot a 99.

I'm glad there is a picture with Ryan and the jacket because I didn't believe he actually won.
